The NRSC (National Republican Senatorial Committee) is recruiting sophomores, juniors, and seniors in college and recent graduates who are interested in politics, campaigns, and opposition research to intern in the research department for the Summer of 2017. Following an exciting and historic 2016 election cycle in which Republicans retained control of the U.S. Senate majority, the NRSC is seeking interns who are eager to contribute to the start of the 2018 election cycle and ultimately help Republicans retain a majority in the U.S. Senate.
The NRSC War Room is exciting and fast-paced. The research department needs interns with analytical skills and an acute attention to detail. Interns will help format news articles, compile daily morning front news pages, clip and transcribe televised news segments, and update our trackers, all for rapid news alerts.
The research department needs interns who enjoy following political news and researching, can write creative and concise titles for our news clips, are fast learners, can complete projects under short deadlines, and thrive in a fast-paced environment. Preferable applicants are college students who are studying political science, communication, journalism, or other relevant subjects and have experience in a political office or campaigning. However, all majors are accepted and encouraged to apply.
While research interns work primarily with the research team in the War Room, they will be exposed to other key components of the committee including political strategy, messaging, digital media, finance and fundraising, and events. All interns fill in at the front desk on occasion and manage the front lobby, answer the mainline phone, sign in visitors and assist appointments.
Please specify which term you would like to intern (Spring or Summer) in your cover letter. All NRSC internships offered are full time and are unpaid. Internships for school credit may be accommodated.
Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. If there are any questions, please contact Austin Metsch, NRSC intern coordinator, at 202-675-6000 or email@example.com.
