The NRSC (National Republican Senatorial Committee) is recruiting sophomores, juniors, seniors, and graduate students interested in politics, data management, and analysis to intern in the Data department for the Spring/Summer of 2017. Following an exciting and historic 2016 election cycle in which Republicans retained control of the Senate majority, the NRSC is seeking interns who are eager to contribute to the start of the 2018 election cycle and ultimately help Republicans retain a majority in the U.S. Senate.
The NRSC Data team is seeking analytical interns with strong programming skills, experienced in working with databases, and are interested in data operations or are numerically inclined. The NRSC's growing data team will provide an in-depth and hands on experience in every aspect of data management and analysis pertaining to political campaigns.
Duties would include
*Data collection, processing, and verification
*Building workbooks for team use
*Working with and analyzing survey results
*Performing statistical analyses
*Assisting the Data department developing and providing reports
*Exploring and slicing large datasets to gain valuable insights
*Working with enterprise-class tools, including PowerBI and SQL Server
Preferable applicants have or are pursuing degrees in statistics, computer science, or data intensive fields, such as economics, the hard sciences, or accounting. Prospective applicants with different academic backgrounds but have appropriate skills are encouraged to apply. Prior programming experience is preferred, especially SQL or R. A strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel is highly valued. Prior experience working with data on political campaigns is a plus.
While data interns work primarily with the data team, they will be exposed to other key components of the committee including finance and fundraising, events, political strategy, messaging, and research. All interns fill in at the front desk on occasion and manage the front lobby, answer the mainline phone, sign in visitors, and assist appointments.
Please specify which term you would like to intern (Spring or Summer) in your cover letter. All NRSC internships offered are full time and are unpaid. Internships for school credit may be accommodated.
Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. If there are any questions, please contact Austin Metsch, NRSC intern coordinator, at 202-675-6000 or email@example.com.
